Clover's 'Way Better' glittery billboard

Published: 29 June 2011

Driving on the M1 or many other main roads recently, South Africans have been met with handmade, sparkling Clover billboards decorated with beautiful sequins for its 'Way Better' campaign. Each sequin was placed by hand by a team who travelled from one billboard to the next.

The campaign aims to launch Clover’s new market position and remind consumers and stakeholders about what makes Clover great. This rare kind of signage, conceptualised by Clover’s lead advertising agency, Joe Public, was much more costly than erecting a regular billboard, but when weighed up against the high impact the billboards would have, it was an easy decision for Clover South Africa's brand manager, Sherian King, to make. "Because a way better brand deserves way better communication".

The glittering billboards can be seen following locations:

Cape Town
- Cape Town International Airport;
- Klipfontein Road facing traffic when using the N2 freeway to the airport; and
- from Somerset West and the R300.

Johannesburg
- corner of Beyers Naude Drive and Preller Drive, Franklin Roosevelt Park;
- next to Herman Road on the R24 Highway, directed at traffic travelling towards Johannesburg from OR Tambo International Airport;
